In a defensive battle on Sunday afternoon, it was SIUE that was able to sneak through the lone goal of the match beating Eastern Illinois 1-0.
 
Evan Howard scored the lone goal of the match just 8:35 in scoring on a penalty kick for the Cougars.
 
Lucas Ortiz, making his first start in net this season for EIU, turned away three other shots on goal by SIUE.
 
EIU finished the match with seven total shots, three on goal.   Adam Boykin, Cland Iwasaki and Kento Tani were all credited with shots on goal for the Panthers.
 
The Panthers drop to 1-6-2 overall, 0-2-1 in the OVC.   SIUE moved to 2-8 overall, 1-2 in the OVC.
