GAME 24
Eastern Illinois returns home after a four-game road swing that saw the Panthers lose three of four away from Groniger Arena and drop into third place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings, one game out of first place. EIU split its two games last week picking up an overtime win at SIUE before a tough road loss at Tennessee Tech. The Panthers host Tennessee State and UT Martin this week at home where they are 9-0 this season. EIU is now 14-9 overall, 11-3 in the OVC. EIU hosts a Tennessee State team that has split its last four games with tough losses to both Little Rock and Lindenwood. The Lady Tigers are 7-17 overall, 3-11 in the OVC.
FLOWERS FINISHES IN DOUBLE FIGURES
Senior guard
Kiyley Flowers finished in doubles figures for the third time this season scoring 12 points on Saturday at Tennessee Tech. Flowers season high this year was 13 points in the home win over Indiana State. In addition Flowers helped facilitate several other EIU baskets finishing with five assists and three steals. The league leader in steals each of the last three seasons, Flowers has 68 this year and needs five steals to crack EIU's single season top ten. She needs 11 steals to reach 300 for her four-year collegiate career. The five assists marked the sixth straight game Flowers has passed out four or more assists in a game as she moved into first in the OVC in assists per game at 4.5 while ranking fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.4. Â
HOME COURT WIN STREAK
Eastern Illinois enters the week with a 9-0 record at home at Groniger Arena this season and riding an overall 12 game home win streak. EIU's last home loss was February 3, 2024 against Little Rock. The 12-game home streak is the 20th longest active streak in the NCAA tied with Southeastern Louisiana and Kentucky. South Carolina holds the nation's current active win streak at 70 followed by Princeton at 28 and Jackson State at 27. Tennessee Tech has the longest active home win streak among OVC teams at 14 games which is tied for 15th in the NCAA. EIU's school record for consecutive home wins is 28 set between the 1980-82 seasons. The Panthers have additional win home streaks of 22 (1986-88) and 20 (2007-09) games. A win on Thursday would give the Panthers their fourth best home win streak in school history. Â
