Southern Indiana dominated play on the glass and took advantage of a cold night shooting by Eastern Illinois as the Screaming Eagles won 66-46.
EIU struggled from 3-point range finishing 1-of-17 from 3-point range.  The one made 3-pointer came from freshman
Alanna Phillipo who led the team in scoring with nine points off the bench.
Phillipo hit a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer to close the third quarter cutting the USI lead down to nine points at 51-42.
USI opened the fourth with a 5-0 run as Vanessa Shafford drained her third 3-pointer just a minute into the game as she scored 18 points. Â
The Screaming Eagles would hold EIU without a basket in the fourth quarter until Phillipo scored with 3:17 to play and USI leading 62-44 at the time.
USI opened the game hitting 3-of-5 from 3-point range to lead 20-9 after the opening quarter.Â
EIU dropped to 16-10 overall, 13-4 in the OVC.Â
Sydney-James Desroches added eight points and five rebounds.Â
USI finished with a 40-25 rebound margin as they improved to 19-9 overall, 11-6 in the OVC.
