Eastern Illinois men's tennis jumped out to a 2-0 lead in its Wednesday afternoon match with McKendree but could not hold off several third set wins in singles by McKendree players.

McKendree ended with a 5-2 win over EIU in a match played at the Terre Haute Pickleball and Tennis Center.

EIU took all three matches in doubles clinching the overall point with a 6-4 win by
Alex Aldaz and
Ludolph Wiggett at No. 1 doubles.Â

Tyler Carlin and
Zach White won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles for the first EIU doubles victory.Â
Pieke Bouman and
Michael Schut closed out the doubles sweep for the Panthers with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play Aldaz quickly put the Panthers up 2-0 in the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over Luka Kalenic.Â

McKendree won a pair of two set matches at No. 2 singles and No. 4 singles to even the overall match at 2-2.

The Bearcats then took the final three singles matches in three sets each with wins at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
