Eastern Illinois women's tennis faced a busy Friday with a morning match against Bowling Green and an evening contest at Ball State.
The Panthers came up short in both contests fall 4-0 at Bowling Green with three matches left unfinished due to time. EIU lost 6-1 at Ball State with
Aleyla Wooten picking up a win at No. 1 singles.
BGSU 4, EIU 0
Bowling Green opened the match winning all three doubles matches as they were all played to completion during a 4-0 match won by the Falcons that had three singles matches left unfinished.
BGSU won points at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 singles to clinch the match.
Ornella Lomenzo's match at No. 2 singles against Isabella Baker was in the third set when it was left unfinished with Baker leading 2-1 in the third set. Lomenzo won the opening set 7-5 with Baker taking the second 6-4.
Michelle Kostadinova won her opening set at No. 4 singles 7-6 before losing the second set 6-4 and trailing in the third set 1-0 when it was left unfinished.
The final unfinished match was
Luisa Renovales Salazar at No. 5 singles.
Charleigh Fay lost in three sets at No. 3 singles losing 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
BALL STATE 6, EIU 1
Eastern Illinois ended the day with a win at No. 1 singles by
Aleyla Wooten as she picked up a 6-0, 6-4 win over Elena Malykh to wrap a long day of competition for the Panthers.
Ball State would win the overall match 6-1 opening with the doubles point after wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Â
Charleigh Fay and
Emma Pilipovic-Kljajic held a 4-3 lead in the No. 3 doubles match when BSU clinched the point.
In singles play Wooten picked up the win for EIU while
Ornella Lomenzo was competitive at No. 2 singles falling 6-3, 7-5.
Michelle Kostadinova dropped a 6-2, 6-4 match playing at No. 4 singles.
