Eastern Illinois softball opened its 2025 home schedule picking up a 7-3 win over Morehead State on a frigid Sunday afternoon at Williams Field.

Marybeth Dyson drove home the first EIU run of the game with an RBI ground out in the second as the Panthers scored a single run in the second, third and fourth innings.

Kendall Grover scored on a wild pitch in the third while
McKenzie Oslanzi hit a solo home run in the fourth.Â

The Panthers were on the verge of picking up a run-rule win in the bottom of the fifth when they led 7-0 and had the bases loaded with two outs. Kendra Lewis ended the Panthers rally and helped spark Morehead State's three run sixth inning.

In the Panthers four-run fifth inning,
Abbi Hatton, Dyson and
Abbey Crain all drove home runs. Dyson ended the day with two RBI.Â
Sophia Olman and
Karson Davey led the Panthers with two hits each.

Morehead State opened the sixth with Victoria Spencer reaching on an error. The next four Eagles batters all collected hits with three of them hitting doubles to left. Lewis drove home two of the three runs after her defensive play to end the fifth.

Sela Pickford had the other RBI in the inning as she led MSU with two hits. Riley Burney (0-11) took the loss for Morehead State as they fell to 1-23 overall, 0-4 in the OVC.
