For the second time this season Eastern Illinois softball swept both the Ohio Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week awards released on Monday (March 24).
 
Alisha Frederick was named the OVC Player of the Week while Karlie McKenzie earned OVC Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Frederick hit .438 for the week coming up big in both games of Saturday's doubleheader sweep over UT Martin that moved EIU to 7-2 in the OVC this season.  Frederick had a home run in both ends of the twin bill as she had six RBI for the weekend.  She scored four runs and drew two walks for an on-base percentage of .500.  She was 2-for-2 in stolen base opportunities. 
 
McKenzie was solid in the circle all week appearing in four of the five games for the week and playing a part in the decision in three contests.  McKenzie posted a 2-0 record with one save as she had a 2.15 ERA for the week.  The junior was part of one combined shutout as she struck out 13 batters for the week. 
 
EIU went 4-1 last week in OVC play and prepares to host Big Ten member Washington on Thursday before a weekend home OVC series with Southeast Missouri.
