Men's Tennis Splits Wednesday Matches

EIU loses at USI, beats Oakland City

Eastern Illinois men's tennis split a pair of Wednesday matches, falling in a Horizon League match 4-3 at Southern Indiana before wrapping up the day with a non-conference 5-2 win at Oakland City College.

EIU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match at USI winning the doubles point.  Zach White and Tyler Carlin continued their solid play at No. 2 doubles with a 6-2 win.  Pieke Bouman and Duarte Trocado won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Panthers.

Alex Aldaz pushed the Panthers out to a 2-0 lead in the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Eytan Michaeli at No. 3 singles.

The Screaming Eagles would win the next four singles points to lock up the overall match before Duarte Trocado closed out the day with a win over Adam Koon at No. 6 singles.  Trocado won 7-6, 6-2 for EIU's final point.

In the night cap, EIU jumped out to a 1-0 lead taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles against Oakland City.

White and Carlin won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles for their second doubles win of the day.  Aldaz and Ludolph Wiggett won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles as EIU locked up the point.

In singles play EIU collected singles wins at the No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 spots in the playing order.

Pieke Bouman won 6-4, 6-4 over Jose Perez Perez at No. 1 singles.

Wiggett defeated Sebastian Bahamondes at No. 3 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win.

Carlin won 6-0, 7-5 over Juanes Pinto at the No. 4 singles spot.

Trocado closed out the singles wins with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Nelson Ramos at No. 5 singles.
