Mike O'Conor has been named OVC Player of the Week following his outstanding offensive performance in the Panthers' four games against NIU and Morehead State. It is O'Conor's first Player of the Week honor, and he becomes the first EIU baseball player to take home an OVC award this season.

O'Conor had a massive week at the plate for the Panthers, batting .571 with three home runs and 13 RBIs. The junior started the week by going 2-6 with a home run and four RBIs against Northern Illinois, including a go-ahead three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth.

In Eastern's series at Morehead State, O'Conor tallied 10 hits, including two homers, and nine RBIs. In Friday's win, he went 4-5 with a long ball and five RBIs. O'Conor posted two hits and an RBI in game two before recording another four-hit performance in the weekend finale that included one double, a home run, and three RBIs.

O'Conor finished the week with a slugging percentage of 1.048 and an on-base percentage of .560.

He now leads the team in batting average (.405) and slugging percentage (.738), and is tied for the team lead in home runs (4).

O'Conor and the Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday with a home contest against Butler at 3 p.m.
