Eastern Illinois women's tennis played its first home outdoor match of the spring season as the Panthers hosted Minnesota State on Sunday afternoon at the Rex Darling Courts.
Minnesota State added three singles wins on the court to the two points they earned by default to beat EIU 5-2.
The Panthers opened winning the doubles point with wins at No.1 and No. 2 doubles after giving the No. 3 doubles match to Minnesota State by default.
Aleyla Wooten and
Charleigh Fay played together at No. 1 doubles collecting a 6-1 win.Â
Luisa Renovales Salazar and
Ornella Lomenzo secured the overall doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play Fay picked up a two-set win at No. 3 singles over McKenna DeMarce to even the score at 2-2 in the match. Fay won 6-1, 6-0 setting the stage for the final three matches.
Minnesota State moved out to a 3-2 lead in the match with a win at No. 2 singles.
The final two matches of the day both went three sets before the Mavericks eventually claimed both points. Freia Lawrence beat
Aleyla Wooten – 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.  Hana Minisy beat
Luisa Renovales Salazar – 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 4 singles to wrap up play.
