Eastern Illinois has the returning players to make an impact at the corner back position this season as the Panthers work through spring practice.

Returning are Moses Alexander and Isaiah Houi who both earned starting time at the position last season.

Alexander, a transfer from Houston last season, started the first six games of the season prior to a season ending injury.  He registered 35 tackles with an interception and two fumble recoveries.  One of the fumble recoveries he returned for a 60-yard touchdown in the home win over Indiana State.

Houi was originally projected to use the 4-game NCAA redshirt last season as a true freshman but due to injuries on the roster moved into a more impactful role including starts in the final three games of the season.  Houi led the team with five pass break-ups finishing the year with 16 tackles in seven games played.

Kaleb Lyons, an FCS All-American two years ago at Morehead State, played in just four games last fall at EIU taking the NCAA redshirt season.  He will be in the mix with Alexander and Houi along with three additional players on the current roster for position coach Maurice Fleming.

"Spring ball gives us the opportunity to turn instinct into mastery. Teaching the group that every step, every jam, every break on the ball is a chance to dominate. We're out here to set the standard: fast, physical, and fearless," stated Fleming.

Christopher Sharp is the other returning player in the room that has seen playing time at EIU.  Sharp made 18 tackles last year as a special teams starter and reserve corner appearing in ten games.

Allen Brown III redshirted last season and did not appear in any games.   Jerry Addo-Boateng is a spring semester transfer to the program from Defiance College where he earned All-Region honors last year.
