During Saturday's Mid-America Classic contest, Eastern Illinois freshman quarterback
Connor Wolf passed for 411 yards and four touchdowns. On Monday he was named the OVC-Big South Freshman of the Week following his performance.
Â
The 411 yards are the most by a freshman quarterback in Division I football his season as Wolf was 28-of-43 for the 411 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions.
Â
His first touchdown connection was with
CJ Nelson on a 75-yard touchdown in the second quarter.  The two later hooked up for a 51-yard score as Nelson finished the day with 194 yards receiving on seven catches.
Â
Wolf also hit
Cooper Willman and
DeAirious Smith with fourth quarter touchdown passes.
Â
It was the first career start for the redshirt freshman from Ada, Mich., and he became just the ninth different EIU player to throw for 400 or more yards in a game and the first freshman in school history to do so, setting the EIU single game freshman passing record.
Â
EIU has a bye week this weekend before opening OVC-Big South play on Sept. 27 at Western Illinois.
