Eastern Illinois sophomore Colleen Bauer was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week following the Panthers conference opening win over SIUE.
 
Bauer anchored a defensive back line that allowed just two SIUE shots on goal in the match as the Panthers collected a 2-0 win over SIUE.
 
It was the first OVC opening win for the Panthers since the 2018 season as they improved to 4-4-2 on the season, 1-0 in the OVC.   EIU travels to Western Illinois and UT Martin this week.
 
Bauer currently leads all EIU players in minutes played this season with 872 minutes logging all 90 minutes on the pitch in eight of EIU's ten matches this season.
