9/29/2025 9:30:00 AM

Eastern Illinois redshirt freshman running back Jacarre Fleming picked up his second award of the week as he was named the STATS Perform FCS National Freshman of the Week on Monday (Sept. 29).

Earlier in the day Fleming was named the OVC-Big South Freshman of the Week, EIU's second winner of that award this season.

Fleming became the third different EIU player to rush for 100 yards in a game this season scampering for 111 yards on nine carries for a 12.3 yards per carry average.

He found the endzone twice on the afternoon scoring just before halftime on a 55-yard burst up the middle that put EIU up 21-6 at the time.   His final score was a 33-yard run with just under 11 minutes left in regulation which put EIU up 28-16 as they ended the day with a 31-23 victory improving to 2-2 on the season, 1-0 in the OVC-Big South.

Fleming caught one pass out of the backfield for five yards to go with three kick returns for 61 yards as he posted 177 all-purpose yards for the day.

The last EIU player to win a STATS FCS National Award was MJ Flowers during the 2023 season following his performance against McNeese State when he earned National Freshman of the Week.   This season EIU has had two honorable mention selections for national awards with Cole LaCrue an honorable mention for player of the week following the week one win over Dayton and Connor Wolf an honorable mention freshman of the week for his efforts against Illinois State.

EIU hosts Tennessee State this Saturday at 2 p.m. at O'Brien Field.
