GAME 18
Eastern Illinois pushed its current home win streak to five straight games on Tuesday night as the Panthers won their third straight Ohio Valley Conference game with a 57-55 win over in-state rival Western Illinois. The win moved EIU to 7-10 overall, 4-3 in the OVC. The Panthers head to Little Rock on Thursday for the first of two meetings this season with the Trojans. Little Rock is one of five teams currently tied for second in the league race at 4-2 in the OVC, 7-10 overall. Following Thursday's game in Arkansas, EIU returns home to face Blackburn College on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game. Â
McMORRIS GETS TO DOUBLE FIGURES
Terry McMorris was the lone Panthers player to reach double figures on Tuesday as he had 12 points going 5-of-11 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Last season as a true freshman, McMorris had a season high of five points in two different games. He opened this season with a double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds against Valparaiso and has since scored in double figures six times. His season high was 18 points at Kentucky. McMorris is currently eighth in the OVC in free throw percentage at 79.6 percent.
PANTHERS SOLID AT THE STRIPE
Eastern Illinois continues to find success at the free throw line as the Panthers converted 18-of-23 for 78.3 percent at the stripe in Tuesday's win over Western Illinois. On the season EIU is shooting 74.0 percent which ranks the Panthers second in the OVC.  It marked the sixth time EIU has shot 20 or more free throws in a game this season with the team shooting 72 percent or better from the line in five of the instances. EIU is averaging 13.5 made free throws per game this season.
PANTHERS TUESDAY BLOCK PARTYÂ
Just days after finishing with no blocks in the home win over Tennessee Tech, Eastern Illinois held a block party on Tuesday with a season high nine blocks against Western Illinois.Â
Terry McMorris led the way with his fourth three block game this season.Â
Nazareth Fisher and
Kooper Jacobi both added two blocks with
Prince Johnson and
Preston Turner turning away the other two WIU attempts. On the season EIU ranks sixth in the OVC averaging 3.5 blocks per game. Individually McMorris does rank fifth in the OVC with 20 blocked shots.Â
