Western Illinois jumped out to a 10-0 lead on Tuesday night as the Leathernecks beat a shorthanded Eastern Illinois team 93-49 at Western Hall.
WIU pulled out to a 21-7 lead after the opening quarter, extending the lead to 43-19 at the half.Â
Meioshe Mason scored all seven of her points in the opening half for the Panthers being held without any points in the second half.
EIU was led by
Ella Lune and
Adriana Arroyo with nine points each. Arroyo scored her nine points on three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Panthers knocked down 5-of-7 from long range in the final ten minutes.
EIU was 9-of-21 on 3-pointers for the game for 42.9 percent but was limited to just 28.3 percent overall for the game.
WIU shot 55.1 percent for the game with Mia Nicastro leading five WIU players into double figures with 22 points.Â
EIU fell to 4-22 overall, 3-12 in the OVC as EIU played with only seven players for the second straight game.
WIU improved to 20-4 overall, 12-3 in the OVC.
