In a game that came down to the final shots, Morehead State was able to make a key shot in the final 34 seconds of action while Eastern Illinois had its shot rim out as the Panthers lost a heartbreaker at home 74-70 on Thursday night in Groniger Arena.

The two teams went back and forth over the final five minutes of action with
Ella Lune's 3-pointer from the corner with 5:20 to play putting the Panthers up four. Lune scored 19 points, one of three Panthers in double figures.

MSU came back to take the lead with 2:56 to play on a Marie Sepp lay-up, part of Sepp's 12 point night off the bench for the Eagles.

The two teams traded the lead three times before
Ava Stoller hit a jumper at the free throw line to tie the game at 70-70 with 57 seconds left in the contest. Stoller led the Panthers with 20 points.

On the next possession Circe Rubio Remolar had a driving lay-up to give the Eagles a 72-70 lead with 34 seconds left. EIU had its potential game tying shot rim out with 18 seconds left forcing the Panthers to foul.

Violet McNece made two free throws to ice the game with 8.1 seconds left in the contest at Morehead State improved to 17-11 overall, 12-5 in the OVC. McNece led MSU with 19 points.

EIU went to the line 26 times knocking 18 of them as the Panthers dropped to 4-24 on the yar, 3-14 in the OVC.Â
Meioshe Mason was the final Panther in double figures with 12 points.
