Bryce Riggs dominates in a pitching duel to secure the weekend series victory with one game remaining. EIU improves to 20-11 (9-2 OVC), while the Screaming Eagles fall to 20-16 (4-7 OVC). With the win, the Panthers are now tied for 1st place in the OVC with SIUE.

Game two was celebrated with the Frost family, who generously donated the new lights for the baseball stadium, allowing the Panthers to now compete under the lights.

Riggs provided a stellar performance to highlight the special day, tossing a complete game. In the 9.0 innings of work, he allowed only one run on one hit while striking out six batters. Riggs earned his sixth win of the season, closing the day with a perfect 6-0 record.

USI's Weller and Gonzalez were strong on the mound as well. Weller threw 6.0 innings, allowing six hits but only two earned runs. Gonzales gave up one run in 2.0 innings of relief.

Panthers had success in the batter's box but struggled to plate the runners. EIU left 12 runners on base, including three with bases loaded in the 8th inning.

Eastern Illinois was able to capitalize on one of their base runners in the 2nd inning, with Quade Peters doubling to left field, scoring Zak Goodwin, who reached on a single to center field to begin the inning. Peters continues to be a catalyst in the lineup after returning from injury, collecting his 4th and 5th RBI of the weekend.

Riggs surrendered the only USI run in the 5th inning, but EIU quickly regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning.

Brett Stanley extended his hitting streak to 28 games with a single to left field. After a throwing error from Wall behind the plate, Stanley was 90 feet from home. James Love broke the tie with a double to right field, extending his on-base streak to 31 games.

Eastern Illinois added an extra insurance run in the late stages of the game, with Peters collecting his 5th RBI of the weekend, scoring Goodwin on a single to center field.

Riggs faced no threat in the 9th as he quickly went three up and three down to earn the series victory.
