Panthers Dropped Game Two Against Little Rock

EIU loses to Little Rock 11-7 in the second game of the series

Pitching struggles faltered EIU in their 11-7 loss to Little Rock in the second game of the weekend series. With the setback, the Panthers dropped to 21-13 (10-4 OVC), while the Trojans improved to 22-17 (10-4 OVC).

EIU struggled to keep the Trojans off the base paths, allowing 11 runs on 18 hits. Bryce Riggs had an unusual outing, earning his first loss of the season. In 3.2 innings, he allowed up six runs and nine hits. He collected three strikeouts to end the night. In relief, Eddie Scaccia pitched 0.1 innings, allowing two earned runs and four hits.

Jarett Kinder closed the night on the mound with an impressive performance. Kinder pitched four scoreless innings with one strikeout, allowing five hits.

Although a rough night on the mound, the Panthers' offense continued their hot streak, scoring seven runs on 10 hits.

The Panthers jumped out of the gate, scoring five runs in the 1st inning. James Love smashed a single to left field, scoring Brett Stanley, who extended his hitting streak to 31 games with a single down the right field line. Mike O'Conor continued the party, collecting an RBI single to left center, scoring Worcester.

After a Little Rock mound visit, Peyton Wilson was unfazed, hitting a blooping single to shallow right field, scoring Joey Hagen and O'Conor. EIU drove in one more run later in the inning by Tyler Castro playing small ball to score Zak Goodwin.

With the 5-0 lead, the Panthers parade was erased quickly as Little Rock totaled 11 combined runs in three straight innings. The Trojans scored two in the 3rd, followed by four in the 4th. In the 5th, Little Rock put the game away, scoring five final runs to complete the series win.
