Day One Results
Eastern Illinois track and field opened the 2026 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a pair of silver medal finishes in both the men's and women's hammer.
Alex Stout placed second in the men's hammer with a throw of 181'7".
Emily Sykes placed second in the women's hammer with a throw of 177'5".
Southeast Missouri leads the OVC men's championship with 48 points with EIU in second place with 30 points following the opening day of competition.
Southeast Missouri leads the OVC women's championship with 24 points after day one with EIU sitting in seventh place with 10.5 points.
EIU added points in the men's hammer with top eight finishes by
Kaden Salisbury (4th),
Jacob Maxwell (5th) and
Teegan Simmons (7th).
Mikaila Ek scored points for the EIU women finishing sixth in the pole vault.
The Panther men had three point scorers in the pole vault with Gavin Synder (5th),
Carter Brademeyer (6th) and
Zac Stout (7th).
Michael Atkins placed seventh in the men's 10,000-meter run for the final points of the day for EIU.
Action resumes tomorrow for the second day of the OVC Championships hosted by Little Rock.
