Eastern Illinois outdoor track and field qualified three athletes for the upcoming NCAA West Regional to be held in Fayetteville, Arkansas next week (May 27-28).
 
Abby Venhaus, Maliek Bush and Shawn Lacy all earned trips to the Regional Championship based on their qualifying marks set during the 2026 outdoor season.
 
Venhaus was the Ohio Valley Conference Champion in the women's long jump and is ranked 34th in the event in the NCAA West Region with a season best mark of 6.28 meters (20'7.25").
 
Bush was the OVC Champion in the men's long jump and is rated 35th in the event in the NCAA Region.  His entry mark was 7.63 meters (25'0.50").
 
Lacy was the OVC Champion in the javelin and enters the regional ranked 33rd with a season best throw of 65.20 meters (213'11").
 
Lacy and Bush will compete on Wednesday at the NCAA West Regional hosted by Arkansas.   Lacy's event is set for 2 pm for the javelin with the long jump at 6:30 pm on Wednesday night for Bush.
 
Venhaus will compete on Thursday night at 6:30 pm.
 
The top 12 finishers in each event at the NCAA Regional advanced to the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon in June.
