Eastern Illinois freshman Ashlyn Denney will continue her 2026 outdoor track season on Thursday afternoon as she competes in the USATF U20 National Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
 
Denney will compete in the 800 meter run in the second of two preliminary heats on Thursday running at 3 pm (Central time).   The top three finishers in each heat followed by the next three best times will advance to the 800 meter finals on Friday evening at 6:50 pm (Central time).
 
Denney was a second team All-OVC performer in the 800 meter this year finishing second at the OVC Outdoor Championships with a season best time of 2:08.76.  That time ranks as the fourth best 800 meter time in school history.  During the indoor season she was the 800 meter champion at the OVC Indoor Championships earning first team All-OVC honors while also picking up first team honors as a member of the OVC Champion Distance Medley Relay team.
