WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Junior Crystal Jones and Samantha Manto scored six and seven trys, respectively, as the Eastern Illinois women's rugby squad rolled over Purdue on Thursday evening, 100-0, in West Lafayette.

The contest was added to the schedule after Illinois pulled out of an originally scheduled Oct. 25 game with EIU.  The decisive win moves the Panther squad to 8-0 on the season.

Crystal Jones scored all six of her five-point trys in the first half as the Panthers jumped to a 55-0 halftime lead, while Samantha Manto's seven scores tied her career high for trys in a game.

Senior Molly Clutter added two trys of her own, while newcomer Jazmine Moore scored a try in her second straight contest.

Senior Amanda Fromm recorded five assists in the romp and in the process set a new school record for career assists, with 24 total, with two more games yet on the schedule.  She broke the old record of 22 assists previously set by Molly Clutter and current graduate assistant coach #Eileen O'Rourke#.

A smothering Panther defense caused numerous Purdue turnovers which created many scoring opportunities as EIU ran in score after score in the first half.

The second half was much the same except for an eight minute span when Purdue held possession of the ball near the Panther goal line, but the Boilers failed to push the ball into the endzone due to an excellent EIU team defense, led by Chase Cain, Molly Clutter, and Narissa Ramirez.

Charleston native Coartney McKinney nailed 10 of 16 two-point conversions to account for the remaining 18 EIU points.

The Panthers will have some time off prior to traveling to South Carolina for two straight games to finish the season.  EIU will first travel to Clemson on Nov. 5, followed by a neutral site game against North Carolina on Nov. 8.
