CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Eastern Illinois women's rugby continues their fall slate with a Saturday (Nov. 8) road contest at Midwest foe Notre Dame. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. (central time).
Heading into the matchup, the Panthers own a 2-4 overall record, as Eastern is coming off a 65-5 road rout of Purdue last weekend.
HEAD COACH FRANK GRAZIANO
Now in his 16th year, Graziano owns a 122-31 overall mark, which includes a 4-5 record versus fellow NCAA certified varsity opponents. EIU sports a 129-32 all-time program record, while enjoying a 104-19 mark since becoming the premiere certified NCAA Division I varsity squad back in 2002.
ALL-TIME EIU/UND SERIES
Panthers earned the win in the previous lone meeting with Notre Dame as EIU blanked the Fighting Irish, 59-0, at home back in mid-September of 2010.
QUICK LOOK AT THE PANTHER LEADERS
Fresh off her seven-try performance at Purdue last week, sophomore Breanna Young paces all Panthers with eight trys, followed by newcomer Deairelle Ivy with four of her own.
Point-wise, junior Young also leads the way with 40 points, with junior Hannah Vieth a close second with 32 points, as she added 15 points of her own in EIU's road win at Purdue. Vieth is now 8-for-20 in two-point conversions and 2-for-5 in penalty kicks as well this year.
Defensively, freshman Jessica Maricich leads with 54 solo tackles, and has added 17 assisted stops and seven steals-at-tackle. Seniors Carissa Burge and Kim Youhas follow with respective 47 and 45 solo stops, while newcomer Lynn Webb ties Burge with 20 assisted tackles to lead all Panthers.

According to weather.com, there's a 40% chance of rain in South Bend, Ind., mostly coming during the morning hours. Temps are expected to reach a only as high as 43-degrees, with 18 mph winds also in the mx.
PANTHERS STEAMROLL PURDUE
EIU ran past Purdue for a 65-5 road win last Saturday (Oct. 25) morning, as the Panthers snapped a recent two-game losing streak with the rout. The win moved the Panthers to 2-4 on the season as Eastern now enjoy an 8-0 all-time series lead over the Boilermakers. The contest was a late addition to both squad's fall schedules.
Sophomore Breanna Young erupted for seven trys and 35 points on the day, as she scampered for the first four Panther scores to help EIU jump out to a 22-0 advantage, with the additional of a two-point conversion from junior Hannah Vieth. She finished with three runs over 20-yards. Those seven trys and 35 points for Young sits as a Top 5 performance in the Panther single-game record books.
Newcomer Deairelle Ivy added a pair of trys and two big runs of her own as Eastern enjoyed a sizeable 36-5 halftime lead after the host Boilermakers secured their lone score in the first half. Ivy added another score, while Young secured three additional runs for a score in the second frame. Vieth chipped in her own try and two additional two-point conversions for the final margin of victory for the Panthers.
Eastern also dished out nine total assists in the rout, led by four from senior Carissa Burge, while sophomore Sara Fisher also had three assists of her own.
Defensively, seniors Carissa Burge and Kim Youhas secured 12 and 11 solo tackles to lead all players, while newcomer Jessica Maricich tallied three steals-at-tackle.
SCHEDULE UPDATES
The Panthers are still hoping to add a make-up contest versus Life University for next weekend, with the game to hopefully be played at home on either Saturday or Sunday. More information will be available once the possible game date and time has been solidified.
