NEW YORK – With their season coming to an end with a second round playoff loss, the New York Giants signed nine players to free agent contracts on Thursday afternoon including former Eastern Illinois wide receiver Micah Rucker.
Rucker, a two-time All-American with the Panthers, ended the NFL season as a member of the Giants practice squad after being signed on Dec. 2. He will begin off-season workouts with the team in mid-March and have an invitation to spring workouts with the club
He was signed as a rookie free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers on May 1. Rucker was waived on Aug. 30 and signed to the Steelers' practice squad two days later. Pittsburgh terminated his contract on Sept. 8. Rucker was on the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad from Sept. 24-30. He played two years at the University of Minnesota before transferring to Eastern Illinois. Rucker finished his collegiate career with 108 catches for 1,819 yards and 21 touchdowns.
