THE GAME 
Eastern Illinois and Illinois State will meet for the 99th time as the two schools square off in the Prairie State Rivalry Game this Saturday in Normal. Both teams will be looking to end the regular-season on a high note as both have been eliminated from the post-season equation. 

EIU has won two games in a row after opening the season with an eight game losing streak. The Panthers won a thrilling 31-28 overtime contest at Tennessee State on Saturday night to end the Ohio Valley Conference season at 2-6. 

Illinois State also ended its conference season in dramatic fashion as the Redbirds won on the final play for a 41-39 win over Youngstown State that enabled the Redbirds to finish Missouri Valley Conference play at 4-4.

THE SERIES
This will be the 99th meeting between Eastern Illinois and Illinois State in the Prairie State Rivalry Game. EIU has won the last two games in the long standing series but trails in the overall series 50-39-9. The two schools have been scheduled to play every season since 1945 with the lone exception a cancellation of the 2001 game due to the 9/11 national tragedy. EIU won the first meeting between the schools in 1901 by a 28-0 score. The rivalry between the two schools is the 14th oldest rivalry game played at the FCS level. This will be the first time since 1976 that the team's have played each other to end the regular season.
