TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Eastern Illinois shot only 26 percent from the field on Wednesday night as the Panthers dropped a 59-50 contest at Indiana State. EIU fell to 4-5 on the season while ISU improved to 4-4.

Chantelle Pressley put the Panthers up 3-0 with the first basket of the game but the cold shooting followed from that point as EIU fell behind by a 23-10 margin as Kelsie Cooley and Brittany Schoen had back-to-back 3-pointers. The Sycamores also used their 6'4" post player to their advantage as Shannon Thomas finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds, collecting 9 rebounds and 8 points in the opening half.

EIU used an 8-0 run behind a pair of jumpers by Kelsey Wyss to trim the ISU lead to six points before Taylor Whitley split a double team with 7 seconds remaining in the half to give ISU a 26-18 halftime lead. Wyss finished with 10 points for the Panthers.

Deja Mattox pushed ISU's lead back to double digits early in the second half with a pair of free thorws at the 17:50 mark. The Panthers cut the lead to six points at 32-26 with 17:04 remaining as Ta'Kenya Nixon converted a three point play. Nixon led the Panthers with 15 points.

Mattox answered with a jumper and ISU was able to hold EIU off over the remainder of the game. The closest EIU would get in the next 17 minutes was seven at the 11:08 mark as Wyss sank a pair of free throws. Nixon hit a 3-pointer at the 57 mark to make it 57-50 but Schoen closed the contest with a pair of free throws. Schoen finished with 15 points hitting 4-of-11 from 3-point range.

Jessica Parker added nine points off the bench and Pressley pulled down 10 rebounds. EIU shot 26 percent from the field and 25 percent from 3-point range.

EIU returns to action on Saturday at 4 p.m. hosting Illinois-Chicago.
