SPRINGHILL, Tenn. -- Sophomore Kevin Flack led the Eastern Illinois men's golf squad to a fifth place finish at the recent Big Blue Intercollegiate, hosted by fellow Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee State.

Flack shot three identical par rounds of 70 to finish tied for fifth, which marks his best finish of the spring season.

Junior Francisco Cherizola and sophomore Gino Parrodi followed by tying for 25th and 29th place, respectively, while senior Matt Bird tied for 31st and David Lawrence rounded out the Panther contingent at 73rd.

In what could be considered a prelude to the OVC meet later this mounth, the Panthers outlasted league foes Tennessee Tech (10th), Morehead State (11th), and UT Martin (12th), while Murray State captured the first place trophy. The host Tigers tied for second, while future OVC team member SIU-Edwardsville, led by individual medalist Neal McCarty, came up one shot shy of the Panthers in sixth place.

The Panthers will now have one final pre-league meet event on April 16-18, competing against some more conference foes at the Eastern Kentucky Invite at the Arlington Country Club in Richmond, Ky.
