DECATUR, Ill. – While many eyes in the golfing world were focused on the pristine views of Pebble Beach and the United States Open, some golfing fans were focused a little closer to home in central Illinois where former Eastern Illinois standout Carrie Riordan was playing in the Duramed FUTURES Tour.

The developmental tour for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) made a stop at Hickory Point Golf Club for the tour's lone stop in Illinois for the Tate & Lyle Player's Championship.

Riordan was definitely playing like she was at home holding the championship lead heading into weekend play with a seven-under score of 133 with six players sitting right behind her at 134. It was only the third time this season that the Spring Valley, Ill., native has made a cut on the FUTURES Tour. Her previous made cuts came at the Riviera Nayarit Challenge in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico where she tied for 40th and the Ladies Titan Tires Challenge in Marion, Iowa where she tied for 48th.

Speaking to the media following her two-round lead Riordan said “It feels great. Anytime you're playing well in a tournament it's going to feel amazing. I just feel confident with my game. It feels like everything is coming together now.”

Heading into the third round of the event Riordan's game hit some bumps in the road as she fired a five-over 75 and fell out of championship contention. Still the former Ohio Valley Conference champion steadied the ship and fired an even round of 70 on Sunday to post her best finish to date on the tour. Riordan placed 30th in the event.

Playing close to home was a special treat for Riordan who was able to play with friends and family in attendance. Normally her boyfriend Matt Davis is on the bag but with this week's tournament so close to home Riordan's brother Cory toted the bag for her final three rounds.

“It feels great. I feel like I'm in my territory,” Riordan said about playing in Decatur. “It just feels good to be back close to home. I feel like I'm back playing in another Illinois Valley Women's Open. It's basically the same crowd, just a different location.”

The tie for 30th over the weekend moved Riordan up to 101st in the Duramed FUTURES Tour standings. The next stop on the tour will be June 25-27 at the City of Hammond Classic in Hammond, Indiana. There are currently eight scheduled events remaining on this year's Duramed FUTURES Tour slate. All tournaments with the exception of the Tate & Lyle Player's Championship are three round events.
