CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Kentucky women's soccer team defeated Eastern Illinois on Friday afternoon, 1-0, via an own goal. EIU drops to 4-8-2 on the year and 3-2 in Ohio Valley Conference matches.

th minute, the Colonels got the own goal when they played a ball into the box from the right on a free kick, only to see Panther defender
Erika Prazma knock the ball into the back of the net trying to clear the ball.
EKU (6-7-2, 4-1-1 OVC) took three more shots (17-14) than the Panthers in the contest and had six more shots on goal (8-2). The Colonels also took three more corner kicks (5-2) and committed two more fouls (7-5).
Kristin Germann took a match-high five shots for the Panthers while senior
Ashley Eck had two shots.
Jessica Blake and
Jessie Morgan both had a shot on goal for EIU.
Kaylynn Brown had three shots on goal to pace the EKU attack while teammate Katie Collar added three shots (one on goal). Three other EKU players tallied two shots in the match.
Jessica Taldone recorded the loss in goal for EIU, making six saves and surrendering one goal. Annie Wickett made two saves and posted her third shutout of the year in goal for EKU.
EIU drops to 6-2 in the all-time series with EKU while Panther head coach Summer Perala surrendered her first career loss to the Colonels, dropping to 3-1 in the series history.
The Panthers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 16 when they play host to defending OVC champions Morehead State. The match is slated to start at 1 p.m. at Lakeside Field.
