CARBONDALE, Ill. – Tyler Carter won the men's long jump as Eastern Illinois opened up its 2013 outdoor season competing in three events on Friday night at the SIU Bill Cornell Spring Classic.

The Panthers had three men's athletes and two women's athletes score points in the long jump as the discus and 10K were also contested on Friday evening.

Carter won the long jump for the men with a jump of 24'3.75”  Bryce Hogan was fourth and Danny Harris sixth to score points.  Hogan's jump measured 23'6.25”.  Harris had a jump of 23'2”.

On the women's side Jalisa Paramore and Jaimee Roy placed sixth and seventh in the long jump.  Paramore jumped 17'11” while Roy jumped 17'8.75”.

Competition resumes on Saturday morning in Carbondale.
