AUSTIN, Texas - Three Eastern Illinois athletes competed on the opening day of the NCAA West Regional for track and field on Thursday.  Tyler Carter, Erika Ramos and Pablo Ramirez all were in action.

Carter placed 34th in the men's long jump with a jump of 23'8".  He placed seventh in his flight.

Ramos placed 33rd in the women's 800m with a time of 2:10.36.  Ramos was eighth in her heat which was the fastest of the six heats contested.

Ramirez did not finish competing in the men's 10K on Thursday evening.

Action will continue on Friday and Saturday at the University of Texas.  The top 12 finishers in each event advance to the NCAA National Championships at Oregon in early June.
