CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Eastern Illinois men's and women's track and field squads completed first day action at the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships on Friday (Feb. 27), with respective fourth and first place team marks.

Following six scored events, the Panther women own a 45 point tally to own a five-point lead over second place Eastern Kentucky (40).

Through five events, the EIU men, meanwhile, sport 30.5 team points to rank behind first place SIUE (53), Southeast Missouri (50) and Eastern Kentucky (34).

The women were led by Haleigh Knapp's first place finish in the High Jump (5-6/1.68m) which helped her secure First Team All-OVC honors, while Jackie Jones followed in second place to also nab Second Team All-OVC kudos.

In the long jump event, Angelica Anyaogu also earned Second Team league honors by placing second with an EIU Top 10 improved mark of 19-2.75 (5.86m) which moves her up to 5th all-time.

Emily Brelsfoard finished in third place in the 5000-Meter Run with her own EIU Top 10 time improvement of 17:06.15, which gives her the second fastest time by a Panther.

On the men's side, the foursome of Joe Calio, Christian Kolb, Ephraim Dorsey, and Riley McInerney paced all competitors in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 10:10.34.

Meanwhile, three Panthers – David Johansson, Zane Chapman, and Garrett Jensen – all scored team points in the Weight Throw.

Overall, the two EIU squads also advanced 22 total competitors to tomorrow's finals, including four runners each in both the 60-Meter and 200-Meter Dashes on the men's side.

Final day action gets underway on Saturday with the final three events in the men's Heptathlon at 9 a.m., followed by 11 a.m./1 p.m. finals in the men's and women's Shot Put, Triple Jump and Pole Vault.  A full slate of racing events will then commence at 1:30 p.m.
