DES MOINES, Iowa – Eastern Illinois men's track turned in a pair of top three relay finishes as the Panthers competed in day two of the 106th Drake Relays. EIU tied one school record and posted another time that was the second best in school history.

In the morning session the men's 4x100m relay EIU tied with Arkansas for first place in the prelims advancing to Saturday's event final. The Panthers posted a time of 39.79 with the relay team comprised of
Jamal Robinson,
Calvin Edwards,
Norvel Mohammed and
Christian Ilunga-Matthiesen. The time tied the school record set last week at the Illini Twilight. That group at Illinois included
Zach Booth running in place of Edwards.

That same relay group came back in the evening and posted a third place finish in the 4x200m relay with a time of 1:23.95. Arkansas placed first followed by Arizona. The Panthers were just ahead of relay squads from Notre Dame and Ohio State.
The women's 4x800m relay team just missed the school record finishing 10th on Friday night with a time of 8:46.98. Â The school record is 8:46.72. Â The women's relay team included
Dhiaa Dean,
Amy Yeoman,
Julie James and
Kristen Paris.

The men's 4x400m relay team placed 11th with a time of 3:08.84 which is the second best mark in school history. The 4x400 relay team included Edwards,
Ephraim Dorsey,
Derek Williamson and Mohammed.
The women's 4x100m relay team placed 19th in the morning prelim with a time of 47.25. The women's relay squad included
Angelica Anyaogu,
Briana Walker,
Darneisha Spann and
Nyjah Lane.Â
The Panthers had two men compete in the 100m dash prelims with Ilunga-Matthiesen placing 10th and Robinson 14th. Ilunga-Matthiesen's time was 10.76 with Robinson crossing in 10.83.
