Sanders Opens 7th Season In Arena Football

Former Panther was AFL Playmaker of the Year in 2014

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Former Eastern Illinois defensive back Terrance Sanders is beginning his seventh season in the Arena Football League as the professional indoor football league opened play for its 28th season.  This season Sanders will be with a new team as he will play for the Cleveland Gladiators following four seasons with the Spokane Shock.  Sanders also has one previous season with the Utah Blaze and one with the Arizona Rattlers.
 
Last season Sanders earned the Arena League Playmaker of the Year Award after a career high 11 interceptions and five kickoff returns for touchdown.  Sanders was named a first team All-Arena League selection for the third straight season.  In his six years in the league Sanders has made 425 tackles with 34 interceptions.  He has 22 kickoff returns for touchdown with a total of 8,349 career return yards.
 
The Gladiators will play on ESPN2 on Saturday, April 18 against the Philadelphia Soul as part of the league's broadcast package.  Cleveland is off to a 2-0 start this year.
 
Sanders is currently the lone EIU player on an active Arena Football League roster.
