Jackson Sets School Record At IU Billy Hayes

Panthers track posts 13 first place finishes

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Amina Jackson set the school record in the 400m women's hurdles on Saturday as Eastern Illinois track and field posted ten individual first place finishes and three first place relay finishes at the Indiana Billy Hayes Meet.

Jackson won the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.73.   Maria Baldwin also turned in a top five career time at EIU winning the women's 3000m run with a time of 9:58.37, which ranks third on EIU's career list.

Norvel Mohammed won two individual races and ran as part of two first place relay squads.  He won the men's 400m with a time of 46.53 which ranks fourth on the EIU career list.  Mohammed won the men's 200m with a time of 20.96.   He was part of the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay squads.  The men's team won with a time of 40.46 and had Johnathan Boey, Calvin Edwards, Mohammed and Christian Ilunga-Matthiesen on the relay squad.  Mohammed anchored the 4x400 relay team with a time of 3:08.85.  The relay team included Edwards, Ephraim Dorsey, Derek Williamson and Mohammed.

Briana Walker gave EIU a sweep of the 200m sprints winning the women's event with a time of 24.91.  She also ran the second leg on the first place 4x100 relay team that posted a time of 46.35, fourth best in school history.  The relay team included Angelica Anyaogu, Walker, Anita Saffa and Nyjah Lane.

David Johansson and Nicolette Diana gave EIU a sweep in the javelin.  Johansson won the men's event with a throw of 205'03".  Diana won the women's event with a distance of 120'08".

Brock Ramos, Boey and Katie Ryan rounded out the EIU first place finishers.  Ramos won the men's 1500m race with a time of 4:01.13.  Boey won the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.66.  Ryan won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 14.47.

EIU returns to action next Friday hosting the EIU Twilight at O'Brien Field.
