Football Remains In FCS Coaches Poll

Panthers drop to No. 24 in FCS Coaches Poll, fall out of Top 25 in other two polls

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois football remained ranked in the FCS Coaches Top 25 polls but dropped out of the rankings in the two other FCS polls that were all released on Monday.  The Panthers lost at No. 2 Jacksonville State on Saturday falling to 5-4 on the season.   EIU will host UT Martin this Saturday at 1 p.m. at O'Brien Field for EIU's senior day game.  Tickets can be purchased by calling 217-581-2106 or online at www.eiupanthertickets.com
 
EIU remained in the top 25 rankings in the FCS Coaches poll as they fell from No. 22 to No. 24 in this week's rankings.   The Panthers were listed as the second team also receiving votes in the STATS FCS Media Top 25 to rank No. 27 in the nation.  In the HERO Sports Media Top 25, EIU dropped to No. 32 in the nation, the seventh team also receiving votes.   UT Martin was listed among the schools also receiving votes in all three polls as the Skyhawks are currently second in the OVC race with a 4-1 OVC record.
 
Sam Houston State, Jacksonville State, Eastern Washington and North Dakota State all received first place votes as they were top four teams in the FCS Coaches Top 25.  James Madison was fifth followed by Richmond, The Citadel, Chattanooga, Charleston Southern and North Carolina A&T in the top ten.  North Dakota was ranked 11th followed by Villanova, Youngstown State, Western Illinois, South Dakota State, Cal Poly, Central Arkansas, Samford, Grambling State and Montana in the top twenty.  The final five ranked schools in the FCS Coaches poll were Lehigh, Harvard, New Hampshire, Eastern Illinois and Stony Brook.
 
Sam Houston State was first in the STATS FCS Media Top 25 followed by Jacksonville State, Eastern Washington, North Dakota State and The Citadel.  All five schools received at least one first place vote.  Richmond was sixth followed by James Madison, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga and Villanova in the top ten.  North Carolina A&T was 11th with Western Illinois, South Dakota State, Cal Poly, Youngstown State, North Dakota, Central Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, Montana and Samford in the top twenty.  The final five schools were Grambling State, New Hampshire, Harvard, Lehigh and Stony Brook.
