2016 EIU Football Schedule  |  2016 EIU Football Roster

Eastern Illinois football reported to fall camp on Tuesday with the Panthers set to open practice on Wednesday morning.   The Panthers are coming off a 7-5 season advancing to the FCS playoffs for the 16th time in school history.

EIU was selected to finish third in the OVC preseason poll released in July at the OVC Football Media Day.  Seth McDonald, Devin Church and Bradley Dewberry were all named to the preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference team.

The Panthers were ranked 25th in the Sporting News preseason Top 25 as they return 15 starters from last year's squad.

The regular season opener is just over four weeks away as the Panthers will open the season at home hosting Western Illinois on Thursday, Sept. 1 at O'Brien Field.  Single game tickets went on sale on Monday and can be purchased online at www.eiupanthertickets.com or by calling 217-581-2106.   Season ticket packages, the best value to see all five EIU home games this season, are also available online or by phone.

Head coach Kim Dameron begin this third season leading the Panthers looking to take EIU to its fourth playoff appearance in the last five seasons.   Dameron recently announced his staff for the 2016 season.   Greg Stevens returns as the Panthers offensive coordinator while Michael Hodges will now serve as the co-defensive coordinator and coach the safeties.  Hodges was the Panthers linebackers coach last season.   DeMarcus Covington will serve as the other co-defensive coordinator and coach the defensive line after joining the staff in the spring.  Tony Gilbert will be in his third season as the special teams coordinator and coach corner backs on the defensive side of the ball.  Keith Scott will coach linebackers and Greg Carroll will coach the Huskie position to round out the defensive staff.  On the offensive side Micah Smith returns for his third year coaching tight ends.  Mike Simmonds will coach the offensive line.  Greg Peterson will coach the wide receivers and Tyler Stevens will coach the running backs.
