INDIANAPOLIS - Eastern Illinois men's soccer played to a draw against IUPUI Wednesday afternoon. Each team scored a goal apiece and finished with a 1-1 tie.
The Panthers struck early with a goal from
Cole Harkrader in the first five minutes of play. Harkrader scored his first goal this season 20 yards out from the net.
Edgar Mesa tallied an assist on the play.
IUPUI's Uriel Macias scored in the 63rd minute for the Jaguars. He scored on a header seven yards out from the net. Sam Gavin recorded the assist.
Ben Stone made his first start in the net for the Panthers following
Mike Novotny's one game suspension. He stopped the ball four times allowing only one goal. EIU took 13 shots with four on goal.
Fabio Collado,
Shady Omar, and
Kris Luke each had one shot on goal.
IUPUIÂ took 20 shots with five on goal. Macias had three shots on goal for the Jaguars, while Sean Siasia added two.
The Panthers return to action on Monday Oct. 30 when travel to Valparaiso. EIU will close out conference and regular season play at Fort Wayne on Nov. 4.
