OXFORD, Ala. - With the conclusion of the 2017 OVC Tournament Saturday, junior
Taylor Monahan became the sole Panther to represent EIU on the All-Tournament Team.
The All-Tournament Team honor is Monahan's first career OVC accolade as she becomes the 10th player in a row to receive the All-Tournament Team nod and 25th Panther in program history.
Monahan led the Panthers finishing tournament play hitting .545 recording at least one hit in all three tournament games. She finished tourney play 6-for-11 at the plate going 3-for-4 in EIU's final game against Eastern Kentucky.
The Metamora, Ohio native finished the OVC Tournament with a .545 on-base percentage recording one run scored and one stolen base. She was perfect during tournament play with a 1.000 fielding percentage recording five putouts.
Monahan finished the season leading EIU with a .378 batting average recording 54 hits on the year. She was also second on the team with 29 swiped bags during the 2017 season.
Monahan will return to help lead the Panthers during the 2018 season as one of six seniors.
