• Eastern Illinois baseball will play a midweek tune-up at Butler on Tuesday prior to hosting Austin Peay later this weekend in their final OVC series of the 2017 regular season. The Panthers defeated Butler, 10-6, earlier this season in Indianapolis.

Dougie Parks blasted his team-high 16th home run of the season in the series finale at SIUE on Sunday. The 16 home runs moves Parks into a tie for eighth all-time in single-season history at EIU with Ben Thoma who hit 16 home runs during the 2012 season. The 16 home runs places Parks eleventh in the NCAA and third in the OVC this season. Parks also leads the team with 55 RBIs this season and ranks ninth in single-season history. His 55 RBIs ranks thirtieth in the NCAA and fifth in the OVC.Â

Logan Beaman worked four walks in the series finale at SIUE and has earned 44 free passes this season. The 44 walks places Beaman in second all-time for a single season at EIU as he is just two walks shy from tying the school record of 46 set by Mark Steppe during the 1980 season. His 44 walks this season are the twelfth-most in the NCAA and second-most in the OVC this season.

Joseph Duncan broke the single-season at-bat record over the weekend at SIUE. Duncan has 235 at-bats on the year and broke the previous record of 231. Duncan leads the team this season with 73 hits, 50 runs scored and 16 stolen bases.
• As a team, the Panthers rank in the top 10 nationally this season in multiple categories. The Panthers have turned 56 double plays this season which is the fourth-most in the NCAA this season. Eastern Illinois has hit the fourth-most home runs (77) and average the sixth-most home runs per game (1.48) in the country.Â
• In OVC rankings, Eastern Illinois has turned the most double plays and average the most double plays per game (1.08).The Panthers have hit the second-most home runs and average the third-most home runs per game. Eastern Illinois leads the league with 16 triples hit and in triples per game (0.31) this season. EIU leads the OVC in sacrifice bunts with 37 on the year.

Alex Cain will get the start for the Panthers at Butler on Tuesday. Cain will be making his 19th appearance and sixth start of the season.Â
• Following their midweek tune-up at Butler, the Panthers will host their final home stand of the season this weekend. Eastern Illinois will welcome Austin Peay to Coaches Stadium in a three-game OVC series on May 18-20.Â

Jason Anderson is in his 2nd season as the Panthers skipper after being hired to take on the role in the summer of 2015. Anderson picked up the first win of his coaching career with a 10-8 victory over No. 12 Arkansas in 12 innings on March 5, 2016.
