HUNTINGTON, Wv. - Marshall scored in the opening two minutes to set the aggressive tone for the rest of the match. The Herd found the back of the net two more times handing Eastern Illinois men's soccer a 0-3 loss which is their first loss this season.
Marshall's Lewis Knight scored their first goal just after the first minute of play and was assisted by Dion Stergiotis. Pedro Dolabella scored Marshall's second goal in the 14th minute off a pass from Brayan Lopez-Mendez. The Herd did not score again until the 69th minute when Adi Dakwar found the back of the net off a pass from Stergiotis earning him his second assist of the night.
EIU had one shot for the match coming in the first half from
Edgar Mesa. Marshall took 27 shots with 14 on goal. Knight led the Herd with six shots on goal. Stergiotis and Dolabella each had two on goal.
Goalkeeper
Mike Novotny played all 90 minutes between the posts for the Panthers. He tallied 11 saves with eight of them coming in the second half. Novotny currently has a save percentage of .914 and has recorded 53 saves through the first seven matches.
EIU will be on the road again this Sunday Sept. 17. They will play Evansville at 2 p.m.
