CHARLESTON, Ill.- Eastern Illinois men's soccer team remains undefeated as they played to their fourth draw this season. The Panthers played the Norse of Northern Kentucky Tuesday afternoon playing to a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes of play. The Panthers improve to a 1-0-4 record.
Northern Kentucky started the match instantly with a long, hard shot on goal. Goalkeeper
Mike Novotny tallied his first save of the match in the first five seconds. Novotny earned his third shutout of the season against the Norse and recorded four saves for the match.
The Panthers had several players active on the offensive end of the field today with nine shots total, two of which were on goal.
Federico Verlichi led EIU with three shots.
Christian Sosnowski,
Shady Omar,
Tyler Enright, and
Kris Luke each had one. The two shots on goal came from
Zach Medawattage and
Marcus Menniti.
Offense was evenly matched for both teams. Northern Kentucky had seven shots total with four on goal. Alex Greive and Tom Suchecki were the lead shot takers for the Norse. Northern Kentucky improves to a 2-1-1 record.
EIU will return home Sunday for a 3:30 match-up against St. Francis on Lakeside Field. The men will take the field following the women's soccer match at 1 p.m. against Western Illinois.
