Men's Soccer Set For Wednesday Match

The Panthers will play IUPUI at 3 pm

ON-TAP: The Panthers will play IUPUI Wednesday Sept. 12 at 3 pm for their only match this week. The match has been moved to IUPUI due to field conditions following the rain from last weekend. The Panthers went 1-1 last week at the Bradley Invitational to improve to 2-2-1 on the season. IUPUI won their first match over Detroit Mercy and are 1-2-1 on the start of the season.

LAST TIME OUT: EIU split last weekend's action at the Bradley Invitational. The Panthers fell 1-0 to Bradley on Friday night, but picked up a 2-1 win over Mercer Sunday morning. Kris Luke tied the game near the end of the first half, while Shady Omar scored the game winning goal in the 83rd minute on a free kick.

SERIES HISTORY:  IUPUI holds a 6-4-4 advantage over EIU in the all-time series match-up. The teams last met last season playing to a 1-1 draw though double overtime. Cole Harkrader scored the Panthers lone goal of the match from 20 yards out. Edgar Mesa tallied an assist on the play. The Jaguars took 20 shots with five on goal while the Panthers managed 13 shots with four on goal.

SCOUTING IUPUI:  The Jaguars are 1-2-1 to start the season. They lost their first two games to Valparaiso and Bradley and tied Evansville. IUPUI picked up their first win of the season over Detroit Mercy last weekend. Tommy Patacca has scored two of IUPUI's three goals. Quinn McCallion has made all four starts in the net posting a .91 save percentage with 25 saves over the first four games.

BURKE EARNS POW: Goalkeeper Jonathan Burke collected his first career Player of the Week honor last week. He logged 290 minutes in goal making 11 stops for the Panthers over their first three games. Burke finished the week with a .846 save percentage and allowed only two goals.

UP NEXT: The Panthers will travel to Wright State for a mid-week match up next week. The teams are set to play on Tuesday Sept. 18 at 7 pm. EIU will return home Friday Sept. 21 for a 4 pm match vs. Northern Illinois.

HEAD COACH: Kiki Lara is in his fourth season as EIU men's soccer head coach. Last season, Lara coach the Panthers to a 4-9-6 overall record and their second consecutive post season appearance. Lara also coached the Summit League's Goalkeeper of the Year and two All-Newcomer Team selections last season.
