Eastern Illinois men's soccer had its five match unbeaten streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon as the Panthers lost 2-1 to SIUE on the final day of the Ohio Valley Conference regular season.

EIU, which had qualified for the upcoming OVC Tournament on Thursday night, will play as the six-seed. SIUE needed a win to secure a spot in the field and with that decision will be the No. 4 seed.

Fabricio Roberti put the Panthers on the board first as he scored in the 30th minute on an assist from
Sho Toda. Toda crossed from the low right corner and Roberti sent it home for his third goal of the season.

SIUE evened the contest at 1-1 in the 38th minute. Wes Gibson took a penalty kick which was saved by
Lucas Ortiz. Gibson shot the rebound towards the goal which Ortiz made a second save on before Gibson's third shot on the same play got past Ortiz for the goal.

Ryley Gibbs scored the match winner in the 63rd minute on an assist from Gibson.

EIU finished with 15 shots including five on goal. Roberti had three of the five shots on goal.Â
Casey Welage and
Rafael Lara added the others.

The Panthers are now 4-8-4 overall, 3-4-3 in the OVC. SIUE improved to 5-10-2 overall, 4-4-2 in the OVC.
