The Panthers travel to Nashville for their final two road games of the season. First on the schedule is Belmont on Thursday Feb. 21 at 5 pm. EIU is on a two game losing streak after falling to SIUE and SEMO last week. The Panthers have a tough slate of opponents in the final two weeks with the top two teams in the conference making their journey to the OVC Tournament a tough one. Belmont is on a 12-game win streak currently holding the top spot in OVC standings.
THREE-POINT SHOW DOWN
EIU and Belmont are the top three-point shooting teams in the league. The Bruins are shooting 34.6 percent from the arc, while the Panthers are shooting 34.5 percent from the arc to rank first and second in the OVC.
Carmen Tellez is second overall shooting 48.9 percent from three-point range.
Karle Pace is ranked 12th shooting 35.5 percent, while
Taylor Steele is ranked 14th shooting 33.9 percent. Belmont has four players ranked in the top-15. Darby Maggard shoots a team best 38.6 percent ranking sixth overall. She also knocks down 3.2 three-pointers per game to lead the OVC.
STEELE FROM THE FIELD
Taylor Steele shot 50 percent over both games last week for the Panthers. She was 5-of-10 from the field including two three pointers at SIUE scoring 12 points for EIU. At home vs. SEMO, Steele was 6-of-12 from th field scoring a team-high 15 points. She knocked down one three and was 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
