JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Eastern Illinois softball wrapped up a five game road trip this afternoon at Jacksonville State with an OVC doubleheader. The Gamecocks swept the Panthers with a 7-0 win in game one and a 7-6 win in game two. Kendyl McKeough finished the day with three hits and three RBI.

EIU falls to 10-27 overall and 1-7 in the OVC. JSU improves to 23-8 overall and 7-1 in the OVC.

The Panthers were supposed to play at Indiana State Wednesday April 3, but the teams have agreed to now play a doubleheader Wednesday night at EIU. The first game is set to start at 4 pm at Williams Field with the second game to follow.

Game 1
The Gamecocks scored seven runs in the fourth inning leading them to a 7-0 win over the Panthers. Haley Mitchell and McKeough each tallied one of EIU's two hits.

JSU's game winning run crossed the plate on a solo homer from Alexus Jimmerson. The rest of the inning was highlighted by a three-run triple from Karsen Mosley and another solo homer from Taylor Beshears to end the inning.

Hannah Cravens was EIU's starting pitcher. She falls to 0-3 on the mound. McKenna Coffman pitched the final 2.1 innings and tallied one strikeout. Faith Sims improves to 15-1 for the Gamecocks and retired five batters in seven innings.

Game 2
The Panthers fought back in game two scoring six runs. The Gamecocks held on the 7-6 win despite EIU's game tying run on first base.

JSU scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second. EIU would go up 3-1 in the third after a pair of hits from McKeough and Morgan LaMore. McKeough hit a double to right center to score Mitchell and Mia Davis for her first two RBI of the game. LaMore then sent a single to right field leading to a run scored by McKeough.

The Gamecocks added three runs of their own in the third, two of which were scored on back-to-back walks from Jade Montgomery. Davis tied the game 4-4 after hitting a single to right field to send Lexi Smith into score.

The Panthers fell 7-6 after another three run inning by the Gamecocks in the fourth. LaMore scored a run in the top of the fifth on a double from Tayler Wullenweber. McKeough would tally her last RBI of the game on a single to right center in the sixth as EIU's run fell short.

Davis finished 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and a RBI. Wullenweber added three hits and a RBI.

Montgomery falls to 4-13 on the mound after making the start and pitching 3.2 innings. Coffman closed the game on the mound.
