The Eastern Illinois baseball team took on Jacksonville State at 12 pm on Saturday for the second game of the conference series. The Panthers were able to comeback to take the second game of the series 5-4.

With the win the EIU improves to 4-8 (1-1 OVC), while JSU falls to 6-10 (1-1 OVC)

Jimmy Govern got the scoring started early with his second home run of the season. Govern has hit back-to-back lead off homeruns in the series against Jacksonville State.

Jacksonville State quickly tied the game in the bottom of the first on a Alex Webb single to center to score Tre Kirklin.

The Panthers were able to regain the lead in the top of the fifth inning.
Grant Emme led off the inning when he reached on a throwing error by Isaac Alexander. Emme was able to score on a wild pitch to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead.

Alexander was able to tie up the game for the Gamecocks with a two run sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. The Gamecocks extened their lead by two runs when Kirklin scored on a wild pitch.

EIU cut the lead down to one run in the top of the sixth inning.
Hunter Morris led off the inning with a double to left center. Morris would come around to score on a
Ryan Knernschield single to center.

The Panthers were able to complete a ninth inning rally to grab the lead from the Gamecocks.
Ryan Ignoffo game in to pinch hit with one out in the top of the first. Ignoffo would draw a walk to give the Panthers their first base runner of the inning. Govern would follow up with a single to left field to give the Panthers runners at first and second.
Dane Toppel would keep the rally alive with a single to center field to drive in the tying run. The Panthers were able to grab the lead from the Gamecocks when Morris hit an RBI single to left field.

Spenser Dexter picked up his second save of the season securing the second game of the series for the Panthers.

Morris finished three-for-four with a double, RBI, and walk.
