NOTES TO KNOW
• Eastern Illinois travels to Indiana State on Saturday as the Panthers play their final non-conference game of the season. EIU dropped to 0-3 following a 21-3 loss to Illinois State last Saturday in the Panthers home opener. Indiana State won its first game of the season last week with a 19-7 win over OVC member Eastern Kentucky.

Dytarious Johnson finished with three tackles for loss on Saturday against Illinois State as he now has four for the season. Johnson enters the Indiana State game ranked 43rd in the FCS in tackles for loss. He has increased his career total to 27 tackles for loss and needs five more this season to break into the EIU career top ten.

Jaelin Benefield was the Panthers top receiver on Saturday against Illinois State as the freshman running back caught seven passes for 44 yards. The last time a running back led the Panthers in receptions in a game was last Nov. 10 when
Isaiah Johnson caught six passes to lead the Panthers in their win over Austin Peay.

Bryce Dewberry forced an Illinois State fumble that landed out of bounds on Saturday afternoon as part of the sophomore safeties six tackle day. Dewberry is currently second in the OVC in forced fumbles this season. He ranks third on the Panthers team this season with 13 tackles including an interception, pass break-up and tackle for loss.
THE SERIES
• Eastern Illinois and Indiana State will be meeting for the 86th time when the two regional rivals square off on Saturday. EIU holds a 43-38-4 all-time series lead. Indiana State won last season in Charleston, 55-41, to snap a six-game win streak by Eastern Illinois in the series. EIU won 22-20 in their last trip to Terre Haute in 2017 as they won the game on a last second touchdown pass. This is the third game in a four-game home-and-home series between the two schools that first met on the gridiron in 1902.
