EIU vs Alcorn State  |  EIU vs Jackson State  |

Eastern Illinois men's tennis improved to 3-0 on the season as the Panthers won a pair of Friday matches in Mississippi. EIU beat Alcorn State 5-2 in the morning before dispatching of Jackson State 4-1 in the evening.

EIU will look to extend that season opening winning streak with two matches on Sunday.

In the morning EIU picked up the early point winning doubles over Alcorn State.  EIU then added points at No. 2, 4, 5 and 6 singles.  Daniel Hernandez had the match clinching win at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win.  Pau Riera won at No. 4 by a 6-3, 7-5 score.  Logan Charbonneau won in straight sets at No. 5 at 6-2, 6-2.  Braden Davis scored the last point at No. 6 singles winning by default.

In the evening EIU again jumped out to the 1-0 lead taking the doubles point from Jackson State.  EIU then sealed the win with points from the top three positions in the line-up.  Freddie O'Brien won 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.  Mike Jansen won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Hernandez took home his second win of the day at No. 3 singles winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
